Indianapolis, Ind. – The College Network™ has focused on educating nurses for nearly twenty years, and it’s owner, Gary Eyler, chose to do something positive for others in the face of tragedy.
Six years ago, Candace K. Eyler, mother to Rob and Cory Eyler and former wife of Chief Executive Officer Gary Eyler, lost her battle with cancer. Each year following this terrible event, The College Network has awarded several full and partial scholarships to working nurses who wish to continue their education.
Lindsey Dewing, a previous scholarship award winner, said, “Becoming an RN has been a life-long dream, and I am so grateful for the generous gift from the Eyler family. It is a wonderful program, and the scholarship helped so much!”
This year, the Eyler family will award one full and one partial scholarship to two nurses at St. Vincent Hospital. Melissa Andres of Carmel, IN and Michelle Schlick of Noblesville, IN will be recognized at a ceremony held in the Orthopedics Building of St. Vincent Hospital on 86th Street in Indianapolis at 2pm today.
“This is always a very sad but hopeful day for myself and my family,” said Cory Eyler, Chief Marketing Officer at The College Network. “We have many amazing memories of our mother who dedicated her entire life to caring for others as a registered nurse at St. Vincent Hospital. We hope that the nurses who receive scholarships in her honor will complete their education programs and continue to serve others as my mother would have wanted.”
