“Honestly, I didn’t know that I wanted to be a nurse. I had two small kids, and I was a single mom. So, I just went into it because it was only a year of schooling. Through that time, I decided I really liked it. And then, I started to love it when I went to work at a nursing home,” Candice Gomez said of her entrance into the nursing profession.

“My mom was an instructor for a nursing program, and she had heard about The College Network® through her recent graduates. She told me about it. I looked into it, a couple of times actually, and never did anything with it. Then, I finally made an appointment,” she said. “The program advisor was very friendly. She was very convincing and answered all of my questions.”

Candice enjoyed the Comprehensive Learning Modules™. “I like that you can read the chapters (they’re short chapters), and you have the study guide. Then, you can go back after you read the whole book and when you read the study guide, you remember the chapter,” she said.

For those starting out, Candice has this advice: “The quicker you start reading and you do it, you get everything done. And once you get into it, you get more motivated. You do get it done. Once you start, it just kind of flows.”

“I want to be an RN because there are more jobs available. You can do more. It’s more flexible and you make a lot more money. I want to work for the same company that I’m working for now but traveling and helping our other facilities,” Candice said.
