Paul O’Dell
Harrisville, WV
Boston University, Paralegal Certificate
Paul O’Dell wanted more legal background before taking the LSAT this year and entering law school. After 11 years in challenging military roles, he had a firm grasp on the law but was ready to learn more. “I wanted to gain experience in the legal industry prior to enrolling in law school,” he said.
When Paul inquired about Boston University’s paralegal certificate, he was pleased with the ease of the payment options. “The program was willing to work with students like myself who had limited funds through reasonable payment options,” he said. “This program was affordable and totally doable. I am paying off the program in a 24-month timeframe so I don’t have to pay it all at once, and the monthly payments are completely reasonable.”
Paul ended the program with a 4.0 GPA. His advice to students is this: “Look into a program that is flexible and affordable and where you can find a job when you’re done. I’ve struggled in my area to find a paralegal position, so be sure to look at your job prospects in your area first.”
Paul stresses that you will be your own biggest challenge when it comes to distance learning. “Finding the right time to get the work done is hard, but that’s just working around yourself,” he said.
