Jillian Spooner
Medford, MA
Boston University, Paralegal Certificate
“I always had an interest in law. When I graduated college and got a job at a law firm, my passion for the field grew,” Jillian said of her decision to pursue a legal career. Originally thinking she’d go to law school, she eventually decided she loved her job as a paralegal and wanted to be better at it. “More education is relative to my job and helps me in my career.”
Jillian had already experienced the traditional classroom setting while getting her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at a university. Since she needed to work full time, she decided online education was right for her. “I know many people are nervous about online education, but the professors and teacher assistants are always accessible,” she said. “Don’t get overwhelmed.”
She’s glad she chose Boston University’s program because of easy payments and the excellent teachers. When looking at the syllabus, she felt slightly overwhelmed, but she found plenty of time in her busy life to study.
Jillian hopes to work in the paralegal profession for many years. “I like being able to work in the field I love and have flexible hours,” she said. “The laws are constantly changing, new technology is constantly evolving and getting an education at Boston University helped me to be the best paralegal that I can be.”
