Michael Hankins is always looking for his next challenge and striving to be the best at whatever he does. Pursuing certificates through The College Network® has proven to be what he’s looking for to keep his mind sharp and help him keep on top of his career. “The College Network and Boston University Corporate Education Center helped me earn my PMP credentials. After I passed, I wanted credentials in other areas that could help me in my work. I try to encourage others to pursue higher education. I was hired into my company as a welder and continued to grow. A position opened as a Project Planner, I took it, earned my Project Management credentials, and moved into my former boss’s job. Without these courses, I would not have my current job,” he said.
Michael began his Certificate in Project Management in August of 2007. He started on his Certificate in Project Leadership in 2009. After completing both certificates, he’s now embarking on his Certificate in Financial Management. He feels this will help him in his role as Lead Project Controls Analyst. “I’m always looking for something new and am very much interested in learning; I see the benefits of new education. My Program Advisor from The College Network takes care of everything I need. He presents me with options so I don’t have to do the research alone. He’s a single point of contact and always listens to my needs,” Michael said.
After completing his Certificate in Financial Management, Michael has no plans of stopping and already plans on speaking with his Program Advisor about other certificate options. As a lifelong learner, he offers this advice to other students, “You have to be motivated. We all have the ability; it’s the motivation that some people lack. Anything new is a little scary, but you just have to jump in with both feet and you’ll figure it out.”
