Susan Realmuto’s best friend got her into nursing, but it was Susan who made the decision to further her education despite working long hours.  Having become an RN with the help of The College Network®, Susan has now decided to pursue her bachelor’s degree the same way. “Getting my bachelor’s degree has always been a goal of mine.  It will open up new avenues in nursing for me and get me closer to my goal of being a nurse educator,” Susan said.

Susan’s positive experience while getting her associate’s degree is what prompted her to continue her education through distance learning with The College Network. “Everything with the program was positive. It was very doable. I was able to complete it working 65-hour weeks,” she said.

She stayed motivated by setting concrete goals for herself and sticking to them.  “I made myself register for tests ahead of time, but I had enough time so that I wasn’t stressed out,” Susan said.

For those considering distance education, Susan offers this advice, “Just do it and everything will fall into place.  Don’t let excuses get in the way.  It may take you longer than you thought, but you’re further along than if you’d just kept procrastinating.”
