Mary Baze
Alvarado, TX
Excelsior College®, Associate of Science in Nursing

Mary Baze may have been destined for nursing when she set out on her path. “I’ve always wanted to take care of people,” she said. “I’ve got a lot of nurses in my family.”

Accepting that she needed a little extra help to do distance learning, Mary sought out The College Network®. “I’ve attempted this Excelsior College® thing a couple of times, and I knew I needed study resources. I found The College Network online. It seemed to be the best way to go,” she said. “The information is pretty good. The modules are pretty nice. I like them. They are a lot of information in not too big of a book.”

Mary admits that she was nervous for her first exam. “For my first test, I was a nervous wreck. I even had a friend drive me because I didn’t want to be driving and worrying about the traffic. After it was over, it was a big relief,” she said.

Hoping to increase her salary and be recognized for her work, Mary is ready to get the program over with. This keeps her motivated. “I’m doing all the work as an RN now. I might as well get paid for it. I want to get finished. You have to sit so many hours a week and just do it. Once you get into it, you kind of enjoy it,” she said.
