Crystal Sandoval’s life is a busy one. She works two jobs, has two kids (ages 2 and 4), and is actively pursing her associate degree in nursing.  “I always wanted to be an RN. My aunt was a nurse, and it was something I wanted to do too. I currently work with a school district in Nevada to provide services to disabled and special needs children. I have always known I wanted to work with children.  Being an LPN was just a stepping stone for me.” After she finishes her current degree, she’d like to pursue a master’s degree in nursing.

Crystal chose to advance her education through The College Network® because of the convenience and flexibility it offered. “I can earn my degree and advance my career on my lunch break, while I am waiting for my coffee, or any time that is convenient to me,” she said.

The College Network’s Academic Support team is valuable to Crystal. “Although home studies are difficult because it takes a lot of drive, it is great to know I have support, and Iam never alone.  Academic Support is always really helpful. When I don’t make progress according to my goals, someone contacts me to give the motivation I need to get it done,” she said. “Using the online Resource Center, I would ease my anxiety by reading others’ study tips and test tips. Plus, it was great that everyone could share web sites and info they found to be helpful. This program is really great because you have a range of accessibility.”

Crystal’s advice to those starting out with distance learning is to stay focused and remember your goal. “The best part of going to school is the sense of accomplishment,” she said. “Each test passed is like your own personal trophy!
