Excelsior College®, Associate of Science in Nursing

“Overall, I’ve had a really good experience,” said Amy McKee of earning her RN license and Associate of Science in Nursing. “My Program Advisors were really great. They were very prompt and very kind. They made the program easier to jump into when it can be scary.”

Amy started on her ASN program immediately after graduating from LPN school and worked full time as an LPN at the clinic where she now works as a triage RN. “I looked at traditional classroom programs, but it was a time issue,” said Amy. “I needed to work full time.”

Amy heard of the program from two friends in LPN school. The three of them started together and were study buddies throughout. “We would phone and email each other and get together on weekends. When it came to the skills testing, it was really helpful to practice on each other and to talk it out,” said Amy.

“I always wanted to be an RN and I thought it’d be easier to get going right away, not wait. I thought I might have a harder time going back later,” said Amy.

Since enrolling and completing her program, Amy has referred eight others to The College Network®. Thanks to the EARN program, after the first six enrolled, The College Network paid off Amy’s loan. Amy then earned referral money for the additional enrollments. “I don’t mind talking about things that work,” said Amy. “And the people I’ve recommended have been successful, too.”

Amy studied during her lunch breaks at work, a few nights during the week, and the weekends before tests. She took a little more than two years to finish her program. “I probably could have finished sooner, but I liked the convenience of being able to work full time and being able to take small breaks in the coursework,” she said. “I didn’t get overwhelmed and I decided when I would take a test.”

When it came to testing, Amy admitted she was nervous at first. “But the tests went really well. I passed every test on the first try.” She credits the Comprehensive Learning Modules™ and appreciated their convenience.

“I really liked the convenience of the whole program,” said Amy. “I was able to get married and buy a house, all while working full time and earning my degree and RN license. The College Network definitely helped me reach my goals.”
