ADN Program Changes - Updated May 2012
Excelsior College ADN Exam Acceptance Limitation Policy Change
The College Network® (TCN) has recently learned that, for students enrolling with Excelsior College® on or after October 1, 2012, Excelsior College’s® School of Nursing will limit the acceptance of credit from the National College Credit Recommendation Service (National CCRS) and the American Council on Education (ACE) to 25 percent of the general education component towards the nursing degree requirements. Credit from these sources, with the exception of military training, CLEP® and DSST® examinations, will not be accepted for core requirements, including Anatomy and Physiology, Lifespan Developmental Psychology, Microbiology and Sociology. In addition, a maximum of six semester hours of general education courses can be completed through TCN exams. Please note: Those who enroll with Excelsior College® prior to October 1, 2012 and remain enrolled will not be affected by this change.
How this May Impact You
- If you have already enrolled with Excelsior College® and remain in good standing, you will be able to continue to complete your degree requirements using TCN exams. You must remain enrolled with Excelsior College® in order for your credit earned through TCN exams to count towards your degree requirements.
- If you have not yet enrolled with Excelsior College® and wish to use TCN exams to count towards your degree requirements, we encourage you to enroll before October 1, 2012 to avoid the possibility of additional coursework. For admission and enrollment information, please visit http://www.excelsior.edu/admissions. You may also contact the Excelsior College® Admissions Office at (888) 647-2388 ext 27. We advise you to start the admission and enrollment process no later than mid-August to ensure you are admitted and enrolled by the deadline.
- If you will NOT be ready to enroll with Excelsior College® by October 1, 2012, please remember that you will only be able to transfer six semester hours of general education credit earned from TCN exams. If you need any further assistance or have any questions, please contact Academic Support at (800) 634-1443 or by email at academics@collegenetwork.com.
