The American Association for Long Term Care Nursing (AALTCN) is the only association that unites and serves all levels of long-term care nursing staff including nursing administrators, LPNs, CNAs, MDS coordinators, GNPs, staff development educators, and more. Their focus on education, creation of community, and advocacy for all members of the nursing department fosters improvements in recruitment, retention, and self-image of nursing staff. To help long-term care nursing reach new levels, the AALTCN defines and advances core competencies and unique practice guidelines. The AALTCN understands the importance of continued education and the link it has on the uniqueness of care. The AALTCN provides more education than any other professional nursing organization in long-term care.

Founded in 2007, the AALTCN has been uniting all levels of nursing staff to advance excellence in the specialty of long-term care nursing. The association encourages respect for long-term care nursing staff by informing colleagues and consumers about the complexities, competencies, and commitment of the special caregivers who commit to this specialty. As the nation’s largest network of caregivers, the mission of the AALTCN is to create community and teamwork, provide educational resources, support and promote excellence in care, and advocate for an improved status and voice for long-term care nursing staff.
