“I've always had the desire for a career in project management and was presented a great opportunity to make that dream come true,“ Rosalyn Toliver says of her decision to earn her Foundations of Project Management Certificate, online, through the Boston University Corporate Education Center.
“I decided that a certificate in project management would at least provide me with the foundation I needed in order to increase my chances of success.” With the goal of earning a FPM2 certificate in mind, an online program was important for Rosalyn in order to balance her work schedule with her courses.
“I decided to advance my education through The College Network® based on the flexibility, financing options and provider affiliations,” explains Rosalyn. “What I liked most about the program is that it gave me the opportunity to learn on my own time and at my convenience.” She also says she was most impressed with her Program Advisor for providing all the information she needed to make an informed decision.
Rosalyn did not let fear get in the way of reaching her goal. “Going back to school at my age raised normal anxieties, but I’ve never let fear grip me so tight that I was paralyzed. Once I set my sites, I’m pretty head strong, so I keep pushing towards my goal,” she says.
“Finding time to study gets a bit challenging at times due to my increased workloads as a newly titled project manager. There are times when, although you plan to get into your studies, work supersedes, but keeping your goal in mind helps you continue to the best of your ability to get finished,” Rosalyn explained.
As for her decision to enroll in an online FPM2 certificate program, Rosalyn has no regrets. “I will definitely use this certificate to improve my life by way of performing with full confidence in my gained knowledge and understanding of project management. Going back to school as an adult learner has its advantages and disadvantages, but I wouldn’t trade that decision for the world. I’m truly excited to finally be able to make my dream a reality,” says Rosalyn.
