Matthias was studying law at a university in Germany and took an interest in America. “I am interested in American law because the United States of America is a very fascinating country. It is a very important political ally and economic partner of Germany and the European Union as a whole,” Matthias said.

With help from The College Network, Matthias was able to enroll in the Boston University Paralegal Certificate Program. “In Germany, there is no school which offers an online course like this about American Law,” Matthias explained.

Working fulltime, Matthias admits it was a challenge being an adult learner. “I said to myself, I would try to study continually and then I would succeed. I was very happy that I passed the Paralegal Certificate Program. I invested a lot of hours in studying and I was very relieved,” he commented.

For Matthias, the global capability of Boston University’s Paralegal Certificate Program is what made his education and career goals possible. “I will use the certificate to apply for a job and show that I have a basic knowledge of American law,” he stated. “Perhaps one day I will work for a company which does business with companies situated in the United States of America. Then, it would be very useful to have knowledge of the law system of the United States.”
