Kelly Jamison is excited to be living her childhood dream of being a nurse. “From when I was little, I always wanted to take care of people. That was just one of the things that I realized I wanted to do. I’m a very outgoing person, so I figured I would be good at taking care of people and finding what their needs are,” she said.

A simple online search brought her to The College Network®, and it has worked out well. “I was doing an online search trying to figure out what would be the fastest and easiest way for me to finish my nursing career. I did a Google search and that’s when I saw The College Network. I started doing research, and I found that their cost for the program was much lower than other universities and schools around the area so that’s why I chose it,” Kelly said.

The flexibility of the program proved particularly valuable to Kelly. “I was starting my Microbiology module, and my dad became sick so we had to go back to California. We were there for a short time, and it was easy for me to take a break from the module because I didn’t have to worry about losing my money or losing my credits that I had worked hard for. That was the nice part about not being in a school. I was able to leave and go do what I needed to do,” she explained.

The layout of the Comprehensive Learning Modules is one of Kelly’s favorite things about the program. “I like that at there are questions at the end of each chapter that will help you refer back to what you just read, so it helps reiterate everything that you just learned,” she said.

Testing turned out to be less scary than Kelly thought it would be. “I was really nervous to take my first test because I didn’t want to fail it. I wanted to just pass it and move on to the next module. The testing centers are set up in a room with a lot of computers. There are a lot of people taking different tests there. It was a good experience for me. They give you the supplies that you need. The test is timed but you can go at your own pace. Right after the test is over, you find out whether you passed or failed it, which is nice,” she said.

The future looks bright for Kelly. She’s excited to earn her bachelor’s degree. “I have many more opportunities available to me if I become an RN. My passion is newborn nursery and taking care of women and children. They don’t hire LPNs for those areas very often anymore. That’s why I want to get my RN, so I have more doors open for me as far as what I want to do with my career,” she said.
