Olufemi Olatunji

Bachelor of Science in Nursing
When Olufemi Olatunji moved from Africa to the United States in 2001, he wasn’t prepared for the educational challenges that were before him. Having been a professional nurse in Africa for many years with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, he wanted to make sure that his education was on par with American standards. He passed the NCLEX-RN to get the proper licensure and then set out to take the classes he needed for his U.S. BSN.
“I enrolled at a local university that only transferred 30 of my college credits, to my great dissatisfaction. I wondered how I was going to complete the additional 90 college credits amidst my family, job, the cost of education, and my social life,” Olufemi said. “Then, I stumbled across an advertisement through a nursing magazine about The College Network® that changed my whole story.”
Olufemi was thrilled to find that 69 of his previous college credits would transfer into The College Network’s BSN program. He also learned that he could test out of other prerequisites and move into his nursing curriculum. He started the program in the spring of 2005 and graduated in the summer of 2006.
“The College Network became the bedrock that led to my master’s degree in public health,” Olufemi said. “I will be starting my doctorate in public health in the fall of 2010 and plan to work with disease prevention and community health. I will be a better provider of care and help others lead a much healthier life.”
Olufemi proudly tells his colleagues that they don’t have to spend years in college taking classes they’ve already taken, and many of them have taken his advice. “It’s a waste of time and a waste of money,” he said. “The College Network is a great stepping stone.”
