Excelsior College®, Associate Degree in Nursing
When the time came for Kenny Dean to choose a career, she knew what avenue she wanted to pursue. “I got a divorce and had two small children. I needed to support them. I’ve always liked people. That’s why I became a nurse,” she said.
Knowing that she had a hectic life, Kenny had a lot to consider. “I have to work full time. This program seems like a more intelligent way of doing it because it’s at my own pace. Instead of having to plan the days to go to school, I can plan it in the evening and on the weekends I’m home,” she explained.
For students going to their first test, Kenny offers this advice: “If you don’t know the answer, you can skip that question. The computer at the end of the session will tell you which ones you’ve skipped. It will let you go back and reread it.”
Kenny is looking forward to her new career. “I want to be an RN for more freedom at work. There is more responsibility. You can do a whole lot more than being an LPN. I should have done it long ago, but it’s going to be worth it when I get through it,” she said.
