Jessicah Michira knew she wanted to be a nurse since she was young. She spent her time after high school caring for her sick grandmother who needed a lot of at-home assistance. The experience gave Jessicah a passion for geriatrics and home health care. “I want to eventually specialize in geriatrics. I’m very attached to caring for the elderly because of my experience with my grandmother,” she said.
Currently working as a charge nurse in an assisted living home, Jessicah is also studying to become an RN. She has completed all of her College Network courses and has begun her nursing classes. “I plan to finish all of my classes next year and then move on to the CPNE,” she said.
Jessicah chose The College Network® because she had too much going on to return to a traditional classroom setting. “I was recently married with a six-month-old baby and working full time to make ends meet. The College Network was a savior and a dream come true,” she said.
Jessicah even completed some of her program while pregnant. In fact, she took her first exam in the late stages of her pregnancy. “During my pregnancy, studying gave me something to do. I was able to study at my own pace, which made it easier if I needed time off. The material was so easy to read and understand that I didn’t need someone to tell me what was important,” she said.
“This program is doable. If I can do it, anyone can do it. With The College Network, you can be a full-time mother, a full-time worker, and a full-time student. If you think you can’t go to school, The College Network will get you started, and they’ll start you where you need to be with no unnecessary classes,” Jessicah said.
